Introduction

This is my garden.

In the picture, that is how I usually arrange my flower pots in the morning. This balcony gets sunlight for about 4 hours and shades for 7 hours or so.

The climate is equatorial, which means it is hot and humid throughout the year. During rainy days, even if the pots are protected from the rain, it is sometimes best to check first whether the soil is still moist before watering. This is to prevent overwatering, that can also cause fungus growth and muddy soil.

I fancy gardening mostly when it comes to sowing and watching the seedlings grow. For me, it's very fulfilling, and it feels like I just reached an accomplishment when the plants start to bloom. It's my own effort, and it's nothing to compare with buying a grown-up plants from the nurseries.

But then of course, there are certain plants that I can't grow because the seeds are not for sale, or it's too challenging to care for the plant from seeds. For example, in the picture above, my Gerbera daisies. I haven't yet found any seeds available, so I decided to buy the plants and wait to harvest them.

Another example is Tulips, which can hardly grow from seeds in our climate. But I must get the bulbs instead if I wish to plant them. The bulbs can grow easily as long as I keep them indoors.

My planting records will be on Folia. I will use this blog for my gardening rants.
